Measure K

Since the re-opening of Monarch Stadium after the renovation, we have hosted football games, soccer games, track meets and other events that thousands of students, family members, and community members have attended.  The compliments from those groups have been tremendous.  The stadium improvements have been a great addition to our District and community.  Please continue to enjoy the facility and please help us keep it in top shape for many years to come.

The second project in the facility master plan is the renovation of the District Transportation and Maintenance yard on Rocky Hill Drive that includes covered parking for our busses, solar panels, and a compressed natural gas (CNG) filling system.  The total cost of the project is approximately $2.7 million including $500,000 from a grant awarded to the District by the California Energy Commission.  The underground infrastructure and the minor structures to house the CNG and new electrical service are nearly complete and construction of the parking cover will begin soon.  The estimated completion of the project is this summer due to the lead time to manufacture the CNG equipment.

Also in the works is the modernization of the 100, 200, and 300 wings of Wilson Middle School.  The plans to renovate 12 classrooms and 3 restrooms have been submitted to the Department of the State Architect and we anticipate them being approved any day.  Upon approval, we will begin working to secure a contract to have those renovations take place this summer.  As promised, we will also be applying to the State of California to receive their 60% share of the cost to renovate these classrooms.  With the sale of the State School Facility Bonds, we expect that our application for funding will be honored helping us stretch our Measure K money to accomplish more for our students.

Finally, we have begun the design phase of an 8 classroom building at Lincoln Elementary School.  We have received input from our teaching staff, maintenance staff, and administration and will begin working with our architect to design classrooms that provide the best learning environment for our students at the same time provide flexibility and efficiency for staff.

Thank you again for your support of Measure K and we will continue to work to develop the best facilities for our students, staff, and community.
