Exeter High School student Mia McCormick, chapter secretary for EUHS FFA, was selected to attend a week-long conference called SLE (Sacramento Leadership Experience). While spending time in Sacramento, she was able to experience the leadership role of a Senator, as well as learn the legislative process while making important decisions on bills based on four categories: education, food, agriculture, and environment.
McCormick was among seven students to recently attend various leadership conferences in state’s capital. The students attended both the MFE (Made for Excellence) and ALA (Advance Leadership Academy). In MFE the students were given the opportunity to work with California state officers and participated in several workshops. In these workshops students learned how to discover their strengths, skills, and leadership roles. In ALA the students experienced the opportunity to refine their skills and grow. The leadership conference was built on the area to build their strength as a team and improve on chapter development.
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. By attending these leadership conferences students were able to leave with great experiences and new skills that they will be able to use for future years to come.
