Bullying Prevention

According to the California Education Code 48900.2, 48900.3 or 48900.4, “Bullying” means any severe or pervasive physical or verbal act or conduct, including communications made in writing or by means of an electronic act, and including one or more acts committed by a pupil or group of pupils. Bullying may be physical (hitting, kicking, spitting, pushing), verbal (taunting, malicious teasing, name calling, threatening), or psychological (spreading rumors, manipulating social relationships, or promoting social exclusion, extortion, or intimidation).

Cyberbullying or online bullying is a term used to refer to bullying over electronic media. Cyberbullying can be as simple as continuing to send emails to someone who has said they want no further contact with the sender. Cyber bullies may also include threats, "putdowns" or hate-motivated speech. Cyber bullies may publish the personal contact information of their victims. They may attempt to assume the identity of a victim for the purpose of publishing material in their name that defames or ridicules them. Cyberbullying may be disciplined by the school as a form of bullying even if it occurs off school grounds if there is a connection between the act and a school-related activity.

Sprigeo is an online, anonymous reporting system available so that people will feel safer at school. When a student really needs help or there is a safety threat at school we hope you will step up and send in a report. After you fill out the form and click the go button at the bottom, Sprigeo sends an email to a school administrator with all of the details from your report. Anyone can file a report - just go to Sprigeo. You can also download the app from the App Store or the Android Marketplace. You can go to any staff member on campus to make a report or to get help. If the school does not know about it, they cannot handle the situation.
